Paint Effect Fulham London: We were commissioned to produce a rustic distressed paint effect for a new patisserie opening in London. Paint effect London
The client had a clear idea of the look they wanted to achieve so after a meeting where I presented some samples, it was agreed what the finish would be like. The site painters applied two base coats in a colour I had mixed for them. With the paint finish being a distressed look the walls didn’t need to have to much preparation applied to them as this would add to the effect. Paint effect London
We applied some colour in random areas and let dry.

We then applied a gaze coat and with news papers produced a frontage finish.

We then mixed a glaze with white and raw umber and painted random shapes through out the wall areas.

We applied a slightly thiner glaze of white and raw umber over all the wall areas and produced a frottage paint finish.
This coat starts to blend all the layers together. We applied a further two glaze coats to random areas.
Building up layers of glazes gives the Paint effect more depth. This also gave an almost fresco look to the finish.
Faux finishes still have there place in modern decoration, they can transform a room to achieve the look and feel you desire.
