Hand painted kitchen Wiltshire Swindon
Hand painted kitchen Wiltshire Swindon: We were commissioned by a client to repaint their bespoke kitchen that was last painted ten years ago. The kitchen is well made but being a family kitchen, gets a lot of use and areas of the paint were starting to show this.
As with all bespoke kitchens, preparation is one of the most important stages as this enables the paint finish to hold up to lots of wear and tear. Hand painted kitchen Wiltshire
Preparation of a hand painted kitchen
Firstly we protect all the areas that we don’t want to paint. We use 1000 grade plus lining paper to cover all worktops and floor areas; this is preferred over dust sheets or polythene as it enables us to vacuum all surfaces throughout all the processes and keep any dust to a minimum.
Once all areas are protected, the kitchen can be stripped down and labeled. It is then degreased, cleaned and dried and filled using two pack filler.
Festool Dustless Sanding
Using a professional sanding system not only gives a great finish to paint but will keep dust down to minimum and provide a healthier working environment.
Which paint to use for hand painting a kitchen?
We started off by applying a coat of Helmi Primer Undercoat and once dry. We filled any small knicks and dents with fine surface filler. The units were then rubbed down using a medium grade sanding pad, vacuumed and wiped with a tack cloth.
We applied two coats of Helmi Top Coat in semi matt and once this was dry, the kitchen was thoroughly cleaned and put back together.
